Mercy Gavilanez

Master Stylist / Master Colorist /Barber

Mercy is a native of Ecuador and has lived in New jersey for 24 years but began her career as a hair designer/colorist of both man and women in the beauty industry in her homeland for several years before coming to America. Mercy is one of four hairstylist in her family and currently co-owns Vida Hair and skin with her daughter Laura. As a bilingual stylist mercy has always had a following in the Latino community and believes that by reaching people through beauty it is also her ministry as a spiritual women. Mercy found her footing in a small shop in the Ironbound area where her career blossom into a much bigger dream that took her to West orange to her first solely owned full service salon own and on to her now second Salon and Spa Vida Hair and Skin. “I am very passionate about my job and each individual that sits in my chair” “ Everything I do I do it with love because that’s the unconditional love that GOD has for me”  “Being of service to my community in West Orange is important to me and I am very grateful that I am able to live in a community that supports one another” Mercy is well rounded in her skills of cutting and coloring and working with all hair types. She insist on not just herself but all her staff to be current in their furthering education as stylists.
